May Culture Meeting
The Dante Alighieri Society of Denver will present a showing of The Golden Door, a film by Emanuele Crialese. This beautiful film begins in a forsaken corner of the Sicilian countryside. And it closes after an arduous and colorful passage in third-class steerage, in modern times, on Ellis Island. The director's novel imagining of the journey between these two worlds, from a past left behind to a family transformed, makes for a brilliant reinvention of the emigrant saga, It also gives an insight to the journey our ancestors made to enter the golden door to the United States. Since movies mean a longer program, we are starting the program at 6:30 PM. The Dante will supply pizza. We ask that members contact Giulio and Camilla Marcantonio to volunteer salads, drinks, or light dessert. Because we need a count for the pizza, please RSVP either of the Marcantonios (303.466.0460) or Veronica Goodrich (303.421.1547). For more information, contact Veronica Goodrich at the previous number or by
